Variety Club

On the 8th of November Room 2 went to the courts to watch children from our school and around the area receive some bikes from the variety club. Have a look at our fantastic stories we wrote.

The cool room 2 went to the court. We watched people get bikes. The cool bikes were very shiny, sparkly, cool, and had sparkly red flames. I thought the flames on the bike were real.

On the exciting Monday. We went to the court. We saw the people who had difficulties. They were happy.

We got to go to the courts to see some people get bikes. There were silly people there. The bikes were massive. They had magical flames on the bikes.

Yesterday Room 2 went to the massive courts. We saw the variety club. Some respectful people got ravishing sparkly bikes.

The variety club came to Red Beach School. They gave some people bikes. The bike was beautiful.

On Monday I went to the amazing huge courts to see the variety club and to see people get shiny red bikes. They had 3D flames that looked like real fire. The bikes only went to the people who had difficulties.

Room 2 has been celebrating this fantastic weather today by partcipating in some sports activities organised by Kelly Sports. We had lots of fun!

illustrations tell a story

Last Friday Room 2 and some other classes from our school had a visit from illustrators and writers as part of the storyline festival which aims to bring New Zealand children together with their favourite New Zealand authors. One of the authors that came to speak was Melanie Drewery. Melanie grew up in Coramandel and writes and illustrates fantastic New Zealand stories. You may have heard of her Nani Mihi books. Here is a couple of stories we have read in class. See if you can find some of your own to read.

Ittiti didn't know how to weave. She didn't know how to play the guitar, so she tried running up a hill but she still couldn't do it. Then she tried climbing but she couldn't do it. She tried singing and that was her gift.

Ittiti was looking for her gift. She tried climbing up a tree. She ran up a hill. She tried weaving but she couldn't do it. She listened to he mum playing the guitar. She was going to cry so she went outside. She sang a song. Everyone heard her voice, it was beautiful. They sang with her.

Ittiti was looking for her gift. She tried running and weaving. She did the guitar. She tried climbing and carving until she found her gift, it was singing. All her family came and joined in. Ittiti was good at something. She was proud.

motoura unit

Room 2 had the amazing oppertunity of visiting the motoura unit of our school. The motoura unit is a special place where children with severe learning disabilities from around Whangaparoa can learn in a stimulating environment. Here are some of the stories we wrote about our visit.

When we went to the motoura unit we saw the people and we saw people with wheel chairs. There was a place which was a disco it had these shining lights. They had to say different things like us.

Today we went to visit the lovely children in the motoura unit. They were using a smart board to call the roll by bringing the face to the name.

I went to the amazing motoura unit I have ever seen in the whole wide world. There was amazing kids there. Some had wheel chairs. I didn’t mind. There was a disco.

Today we went to the motoura unit. It had lots of rooms in their. One was a disco room, one was a quite room. Some people were in wheel chairs. They had to stretch their legs because they can’t walk. Some people had to still stay in the wheel chairs but they had this button so they could talk.

Today lovely room 2 went to the cool motoura unit. There were people in fantastic wheel chairs. There was a very quite room. Clayden went in a special time out. We went in the feeling room with disco lights. It was fun watching people exercise.

Today we went to the cool motoura unit. They were dragining their amazing faces to their name on the smart board. We went to see some lights. Some people were in the sheel chairs and the wheel chairs lay down to have some people doing exercises.

Today we went to the super motoura unit. It was fun. The people at the motoura unit were on fast wheel chairs. There was a computer they had to drag their pictures to their names.
